Not sure who this should go to if to anyone....but I am former resident of Texarkana (30+ yrs) living in Dallas. One of my books just released on amazon.com.
It is fictional, 1957, takes place at Spring Lake Park and Texarkana College (with accuracy) and is the spooky story of unsolved murders to include the "phantom killer"...all based on De Soto camping there and an Incan curse he brought with him.
"Time of Grace" is the book.... can be seen here:
www.cattd.com The gazette did an interview with me back in the early 90s on a publication. So if interested, I can supply more contact info.
Thanks!

I was invited to sing at the Maytag Opry on New Years eve 12/31/11,witch was my birthday. And what a birthday it was!The Opry staff, musicians and fans, welcomed me with open arms. Not only that, the sweet ladies of the Maytag Opry, made me the most fantastic birthday cake ever!It had a guitar, boots,a cowboy hat and music notes beautifully sculptured in western colored frosting. The Maytag Opry may not be as large as some other Opry's,but it holds some of the most talented, caring, kindest and big hearted people i have ever known.Thank you so much, for a great birthday and one the best times in my life!God Bless each and everyone of you, your Oregon friend,Ted Spencer

Thanks, Patrick. There's so much good music to listen to out there if you do some digging around that it's hard to catch it all. That looks like a good list you have, too. I think that Adele album is going to land her some Grammy Awards in a few months. As far as I'm concerned, she is this generation's Aretha Franklin when it comes to contemporary soul.

That's a pretty good list and I'm a little embarrassed I have yet to listen to the latest Bon Iver album. Every friend I have that has seen his current tour says it's easily the best tour of the year.

Anyway, my favorites of 2011:
Ryan Adams - Ashes & Fire
Head & the Heart - Head & the Heart
Black Keys - El Camino
Dawes - Nothing is Wrong
Middle Brother - Middle Brother
Civil Wars - Barton Hollow (might be 2010)
Adele - 21 (might be 2010)

We already dropped the DVD service and went 100% streaming.

When we first signed up for Netflix (before streaming), we averaged about 8 DVDs a month on the 2-disc plan. When streaming came out and we bought a Roku player, our DVD consumption dropped radically. It wasn't unusual to keep an unwatched DVD for a month or more. Switching to the streaming-only plan was a no-brainer.

Aside from the Roku player, we have three desktops, two laptops, and an Ipad for watching streaming video. We simply don't need DVDs any longer (although it will be nice when their streaming library is more complete).
