An inmate who escaped from the Bowie County Correctional Center today was apprehended before 6 p.m. in the Wake Village area.

Marques Tervon Franklin, 17, escaped from the Bowie County Correctional Center in downtown Texarkana between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. today, said Bowie County Sheriff James Prince. When he escaped, he was last seen wearing a dark blue jail uniform, but his shirt was found in a nearby alley.

A foot chase ensued in the Wake Village area and Franklin was taken into custody roughly 12 hours after his escape.

His last known address was 3505 Magnolia St. in Texarkana, Texas.

Pending charges against him include two counts of robbery, unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of evading arrest and failure to identify. His total  bond stands at $111,000, according to law enforcement officials.

Charges of escape will be filed, authorities said.

Bowie County deputies are investigating how he escaped.
