Jessie Jewel Crouther, 87, of Atlanta, Texas, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in Atlanta.
Mrs. Crouther was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Caney, Ark. She was a retired school teacher, member of Phil Delta Kappa, Inc., retired teachers association, Michigan, National Education Association and Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Queen City, Texas, where she was a deaconess, director of nurture program for teens and a member of mission ministry and choir.
Survivors include her husband, Charles L. Crouther Sr.; two sons, Charles L Crouther Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., and Dr. Marcus Crouther of Texarkana; one daughter, Marjorie A. Hardmon of Albuquerque; one brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Velma Robinson of Caney; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Enon First Baptist Church, Atlanta with A.C. Williams and the Rev. Willard Mothershed officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Bright Star, Ark., under direction of Haynes Mortuary.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
