Billy W. Bowden, 77, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Bowden was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Linden, Texas. He was a retired Navy chief petty officer; retired from Sisters of Providence Our Lady of Compassion rehabilitation and nursing center, Anchorage, Alaska; and a member of National Rifle Association, Fleet Reserve Association and St. James Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Bowden; four daughters, Lorrie Noah of Cookville, Tenn., Melissa Paro of Linden, Texas, Kelley Moore of Atlanta, Texas, and Meredith Browning of Redmond, Ore.; one son, Randy Bowden of Haubstadt, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at St. James Episcopal Church with the Rev. Douglas Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery, Linden, Texas, under direction of East Funeral Home, Moores Lane.
