ATLANTA, Texas—Adella M. Simmons Green, 85, of Bloomburg, Texas, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Green was born Oct. 21, 1926, in Gilliam, La. She was retired from Morton Thiokol Army Ammunition in Karnack, Texas, where she was a union steward. She was a former president of March of Dimes local chapter and member of First Baptist Church, Bloomburg, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Green; and one grandson, Daren Simmons.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin D. Simmons Jr.; three sons, James E. “Sonny” Simmons of Bloomburg, John M. Simmons of Garland, Texas, and Morris E. Carter Jr. of Jefferson, Texas; three daughters, Suzanne Simmons Bishop of Bloomburg, Donna Jo Simmons Crabb of McKinney, Texas, and Kathleen Carter of Jefferson; one sister, Mary L. Armstrong of Shreveport, La.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Hanner Funeral Home with George Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Bloomburg.
