Garland Emory Allison Sr., 87, of Texarkana, Texas, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, in a local hospital.

Mr. Allison was born June 28, 1925, in Hodge, La. He was retired from Brown and Root Inc., founder of Allison’s Party Supplies, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Jean Allison.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Allison of Texarkana; one son and daughter-in-law, Garland “Chip” Jr. and Cheryl Allison of Redwater, Texas; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tommy Freeman of Monroe, La., Patricia and Don Smith of Longview, Texas, and Georgette and Pat Duke of Linden, Texas; one stepdaughter, Jacqueline Sailor of Longview; one stepson, Raymond Kososki of Wylie, Texas; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Mass will be 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Adams officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
