HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Marvin Gholston, 84, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in a Tyler, Texas, hospital.

Mr. Gholston was born July 30, 1928, in Cason, Texas. He was a member of Shady Grove Christian Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie F. Smith; three sons, Melvin Gholston of Arkansas and Harold Gholston and Earnest Gholston of Pittsburg, Texas; four daughters, Marvelous Gholston, Barbara Gholston and Rachel Gholston of Cason and Machelle McGary of Dallas; three sisters, Charlesetta Gholston of Midlothian, Texas, Valarie Smith of Cason and Bertha L. Rodgers of Pittsburg; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Christian Church. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.

Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
