Alta Burnett, 91, of Texarkana, Ark., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Burnett was born March 27, 1921, in Stamps, Ark. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Burnard Palmer and H.L. “Smiley” Burnett; one daughter, Patsy Ann Beavers; and two grandsons, Drew Palmer and Justin McCrary.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Donald Ray and Janice Palmer of Texarkana; one daughter and two sons-in-law, Mary Sue and Ralph Birdwell of Texarkana and William Glen Beavers of Denton, Texas; four stepsons, Jack Burnett and Alvin Burnett of Bastrop, Texas, Boyd Burnett of Texarkana and Walter Burnett of Doddridge, Ark.; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be noon Saturday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas, with the Revs. George Goynes and Buddy Hamner officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family will be at her home in Pleasant Hill community.
