Jack Kenneth Spicer, 84, of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in a local hospital.

Mr. Spicer was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Texarkana. He was retired from Texarkana Gazette, a member of Printing Pressmen’s Local Union 136, a Baptist and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Resa Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Novelle Spicer of Texarkana; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Gail Spicer and Harold Gene Spicer of Texarkana; five sisters, Lonnie Guffey, Betty Mae Long, Peggy Pugh and Anna Jean Collvins of Texarkana and Mary Sue Hobbs of Tyler, Texas; one brother, Billy Spicer of Texarkana; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Red Lick Cemetery, Red Lick, Texas, with the Rev. Orville Farren officiating. Burial will be under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family will be at their home in Texarkana.
