James Thauprey Wreyford, 85, of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in a local retirement center.

Mr. Wreyford was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Texarkana. He was retired from Southwestern Electric Power Co.; an Eagle Scout; chairman of Planning and Zoning Committee for Texarkana, Texas; a member of Texarkana Community Chorus and First Baptist Church, Moores Lane, where he served as deacon and member of Fishermen Men’s Bible Study class and choir; and a World War II Navy veteran. 

Survivors include his wife, Billie Wreyford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jack Allensworth and Ginger and Lee Woods of Texarkana; one sister, Jessie Mae McKinney of Texarkana; four grandchildren, Bridget Allensworth Contreras, Jack Allensworth Jr. and Aaron Wells of Texarkana and Emily Wells Garcia of Aubrey, Texas; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Moores Lane, with Jeff Schreve and Don Howren officiating. Private burial will be under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.

Visitation will follow the services at the church atrium.
