LINDEN, Texas—Don Hickson Sr., 80, of Linden died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in a local hospital.
Mr. Hickson was born Jan. 1, 1933, in Tucumcari, N.M. He was retired from the military, a superintendent with Brown and Root, Commander of Lyles-McDaniel Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6968, Linden, former District Commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of Jefferson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Honor Guard, Linden Lions Club and the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Valerie Dianna Sitton and Brenda Kay Hargett McCreery; one son, Kevin Loyd Hargett; and one grandson, Billy Don Hickson Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hickson of Linden; six sons, Billy Don Hickson of Pennsylvania, Don Hickson Jr. and Douglas Hickson Sr. of Marshfield, Mo., Floyd Delbert Hickson of Maxwell, Calif.; Jerry Hargett of Pittsburg, Texas; and Terry Hargett of Lake O’ The Pines, Texas; three daughters, Debra Jean Wadsworth of Maxwell, Donna Jean Hargett of Fort Sumner, N.M., and Elizabeth Morren of Anton, Texas; two brothers, Doyle Ray Hodges and Jerry Dale Hodges of Bloomfield, N.M.; three sisters, Shirley Wilson of Springfield, Mo., Barbara Jean Blair Hastings of Nebraska and Vivian Lee Darnell of Bloomfield; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home with John Taylor officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Marietta, Texas.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Lyles-McDaniel Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6968, the Linden Lions Club, Disabled American Veterans, or Linden Seventh Day Adventist Church.
