HOPE, Ark. — Police are searching for a man who came to Hope High School Tuesday wanting inside the school.

Some witnesses have reported the man had an outline of gun in his waistband, officials said. However, law enforcement officials have not been able to confirm this information.

Hope, Ark., School District's three campuses remain on lockdown as the search ensues.

The man is described as a 6-foot black man driving a gold Lumina.

He did not gain access to the school because of locked doors.

The man was allegedly asking about where the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope was located.

There is not arrest warrant issued for the man at this time.

UACCH evacuated its campus, heeding to what they thought was a "credible" threat.

About 1,300 to 1,500 students and 140 faculty were evacuated.

Hope is located in Southwest Arkansas, 30 minutes east of Texarkana, Ark. The schools include Hope High, Yerger Junior High and  Beryl Henry Elementary schools. All are located on Main Street in Hope within a one-mile radius of one another.
