Harold Boldt, Texarkana, Ark., city manager since 2005, has left his post immediately, a city official announced Tuesday morning.

Mayor Wayne Smith held a press conference to announce Boldt’s departure.

Smith said during Monday night’s closed session of the city board of directors’ meeting, Boldt and the city board mutually agreed to part ways.

He will recommend a nationwide search for a city manager.

Also, an interim city manager could be named by the end of the week and most likely will not be a city employee, Smith said.

A severance package is being worked on for Boldt. Details were not immediately available.
