Sam Wallace Dean, 79, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, April 26, 2013, in a local hospital.

Mr. Dean was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Mandeville, Ark. He was a former farmer, retired constable for Miller County, past president of the local Farm Bureau Association, a member of Red River Cattleman’s Association, and Miller County Conservation District, and a Korean War Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, LuAnne Smith Dean; and one granddaughter, Emily Franks.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Tracey Dean and Ben Franks of Simms, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lenny Rose Dean of Shreveport, La.; one special friend, Kathleen Holybee; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rondo Cemetery with the Rev. Wallace Edgar officiating. Burial with military honors will be under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
