Don Mitchell, 85, of Texarkana, Ark., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Mitchell was born June 18, 1928, in Edwardsville, Ill. He was district director of Miller County Conservation District; a member of Southwest Arkansas Resources Conservation and Development Council, National Association of Conservation Districts board of directors-1, AACD, where he served as president and was inducted into AACD Conservation Hall of Fame, and St. James Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Mike” Mitchell; one daughter, Peggy Adcock; and one son, Michael Burton Mitchell.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Helen Mitchell of Texarkana and Eveann George of El Dorado, Ark.; one son, Rusty Mitchell of Texarkana; one brother, Leo S. Mitchell of Lubbock, Texas; one sister, Mary Olive Walker of Irving, Texas; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at St. James Episcopal Church with the Rev. Doug Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Old Rondo Cemetery under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.
