Bowie and Miller counties and much of the surrounding area remains under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a winter weather advisory for one to two inches of snow.

An upper-level disturbance moving east across the region, combined with near freezing temperatures, could produce between one and two inches of snowfall across Northeast Texas, Southwest Arkansas and Southeast Oklahoma.

The snowfall is expected to gradually increase in coverage through the morning and is expected to diminish late this afternoon.

Travel could become hazardous on elevated roads and bridges due to icing. Motorists are encouraged to use caution while driving.

Other counties under the advisory are Sevier, Howard, Little River, Nevada and Lafayette in Southwest Arkansas. Red River, Cass, Franklin, Titus and Morris in Northeast Texas and McCurtain in Southeast Okla.
