One dead in apparent Locust Street shooting
One person is dead in a home in the 2800 block of Locust Street after an apparent shooting, an official said.
Meanwhile, a man was apparently dropped off on Ashley Street in Texarkana, Texas, after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to his buttocks and hips, according to a family member.
About 1:25 p.m. Texarkana, Ark., Police Department received a call from a third party about a shooting at 2821 Locust St, said Jason Shores of TAPD.
When officers arrived, they found Demarquis R. Reeves, 25, dead in the house.
At the same time, TAPD received a call about a pickup speeding away from that vicinity.
Officers are trying to locate the vehicle.
Several residents nearby reported multiple gunshots in the area. Crime scene is at the house.
About the same time, Texas-side officers responded to a shooting call in the 2200 block of Ashley Street off of Lake Drive.
While police released no official details about the Ashley Street shooting, the stepmother of the victim in that shooting said her stepson, Devin White, had multiple gunshot wounds to his buttocks and hips.
Shawnee White, White's stepmother, said her stepson was driven to 2210 Ashley St. in a black GMC Sierra where he was dropped off. He told his stepmother he had been shot on the Arkansas side.
Devin White was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his wounds, Shawnee White said.
It was unclear Tuesday afternoon if the two shootings were related.
