Clerk shot at convenience store, taken to hospital for injuries
A convenience store clerk was shot late Monday and the suspect is still at large, according to information from the Bowie County Sheriff's Department.
Juliann Nouri was on duty at the Triple J located in the 4600 block of South Lake Drive when a call was dispatched to BCSO about 10:29 p.m., said Chief Deputy Jeff Neal.
"Nouri said as she was closing the store, a young black male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants came in the store asking to buy a cigar. She went behind the counter and asked for his identification. When Nouri looked up, she saw this male was ... holding a firearm in his hand," Neal stated in a press release.
The suspect told Nouri to "open the drawer," Neal said.
"As she began to comply with the suspect’s demand, the suspect shot her. The bullet passed through the left side of Nouri’s waist. The suspect fled the store on foot and has not been identified or located," Neal states in the press release.
Nouri was taken to CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System for treatment of her injuries.
