Suspect apprehended near Walmart after fleeing from police
A suspect who has a federal warrant for his arrest is now in custody after fleeing from police in a car and on foot before being caught near the Walmart garden center on Arkansas Boulevard, officials said.
Officials were apparnetly attempting to serve a federal warrant on Eric J. Phillips, 35, of Bedford, Texas, when the incident began.
It is unclear at this time if Phillips fired any shots before being apprehended.
Preliminary information indicates Phillips was in the Whataburger drive through when he was spotted by police. He drove away from the business.
Police shot the tires out on the Nissan he was driving away and the suspect then fled on foot, running through the Days Inn parking lot and over the business' roof before being caught by three detectives near the Arkansas Walmart garden center.
The suspect is apparently wanted on federal kidnapping charges.
