An arrest has been made in a recent copper theft, a Texarkana, Texas, Police Department official said.

Robert Singleton, 45, was arrested Monday on charges of theft of material (copper) and booked into jail for his alleged role in the theft of an outside air conditioner unit in the 2400 block of Texas Boulevard on June 25, said Sgt. Aaron Brower, TTPD spokesman.

Officers discovered video surveillance of the suspect and his vehicle from a business next door, Brower said.

Officer Bo Carter located the truck and arrested Singleton, who was driving, for unrelated warrants.

Through a detailed investigation, detectives were able to determine that Singleton was the suspect taking the outside air conditioner unit.

Singleton was then arrested on the theft charges.
