Texarkana, Ark., hotel/restaurant tax repeal proposal fails to make November ballot
Texarkana, Ark., voters will not be considering the repeal of the city's 2 percent tax on hotel and restaurant purchases in November, according to a city official.
On Tuesday, City Clerk Heather Soyars wrote a letter stating she "must decline to certify" the proposed repeal for the 2014 general ballot based on deficiencies in the petition. Soyars wrote the letter to resident Donnie Walden, who was seeking to have the repeal measure placed on the ballot.
