Strickland pleads to life with possibility of parole
Tucker Orton Strickland pled to life with the possibility of parole Thursday morning before jury selection was slated to start in his trial.
Strickland made the plea deal to avoid life without the possibility of parole.
More than 100 potential jurors were leaving the Bowie County Courthouse about 9:45 a.m. Thursday after learning of Stickland's plea.
His trial was scheduled to begin Friday on the second floor of the same building where he allegedly committed capital murder by shooting Deputy Sherri Jones, 54, with her own service weapon after a mental health hearing in the basement.
