Suspect in Spring Lake Park assault arrested on traffic violation
The person of interest identified in the Spring Lake assault case earlier today has been arrested on a traffic violation and was booked into Bi-State Justice Building jail on a sexual assault charge after investigation, officials said late this afternoon.
David Love, 19, of Fouke, Ark., was spotted about 12:43 p.m. by a TTPD detective on State Line Avenue and arrested on a traffic violation. After "thorough investigation, detectives were able to issue a warrant for sexual assault on Love for the incident that occurred earlier at Spring Lake Park," TTPD spokesman Sgt. Aaron Brower wrote in a press release.
A photograph of the suspect vehicle was released to the media about 12:10 p.m., and police received a tip that the vehicle was used regularly by Love, according to the press release.
A woman reported being assaulted at Spring Lake Park this morning.
"At approximately 10:13 a.m., officers received a call of an assault on the north side of Spring Lake Park. Officers were advised by the victim, who was running in the park, that she was assaulted by a very light-skinned white male with blonde, almost white hair described to be in his mid-30s. She was able to break free from the suspect, and he fled the scene in a gold-colored Jeep Cherokee," Brower wrote in the news release.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Texarkana, Texas, Police Department at 903-798-3116 or Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP (7867).
