Well, the day we've all been waiting for is finally here.

The big show in the sky. The total eclipse of the sun.

In our area, the eclipse will begin around 12:28 pm and achieve totality for roughly four minutes beginning at 1:46 pm. By 3:07 pm it will be over.

Many will gather downtown where Solarbration festivities continue. We have to say, the Twin Cities, community groups and local businesses did themselves proud offering plenty to see and do for the big event. We are sure everyone who attended had a good time, local residents and the many visitors in town for the eclipse alike.

Others will view the eclipse from home. Wherever you choose to watch the moon pass before the sun, be sure to wear recommended eye protection. It's essential.

For some younger folks, this will be their first chance to see a total solar eclipse. For a few more seasoned skygazers it may be their last.

One thing's for sure -- you don't want to miss it.
