A popular History Channel show is planning to film in Arkansas, and area residents have a chance to be featured in the production.

"American Pickers" is coming to the Natural State in June and is sending out requests for collectors to join them.

Associate producer Joshua Kerlin said collectors will help to shape the show's filming schedule.

"We reach out statewide, and depending on the interest we receive, that determines where specifically we travel," Kerlin said Friday to the Gazette.

In a news release, "American Pickers" said it is looking for leads on unique items that owners are ready to sell. Only private collections will be considered. Stores, flea markets, malls, auction businesses, museums or anything open to the public will not be considered, the release states.

To submit an item for review, the name of the owner, a phone number, residence, and a description and photos of the collection can be emailed to [email protected].

"American Pickers" follows skilled "pickers" -- including show creator Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz -- as they hunt for valuable antiques. They keep an eye out for notable and rare items and "unforgettable characters," according to the release.

"They hope to give historically significant objects a new lease on life while learning a thing or two about America's past along the way," the release states.
