Prep Roundup: Redwater, Genoa Central dominate in high-scoring games

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas -- Redwater exploded for eight runs in the first two innings en route to a dominating 15-2 victory over Paul Pewitt on Monday.

The Lady Dragons had four batters with double-digit hits, including Ella Calhoon, who went 3-for-3 with three singles and an RBI. KJ Brown and Addison Bruner collected two hits apiece in the win.

Redwater scored two more in the fourth inning and five in the sixth.

Redwater's Skyler Lavigne and Alivia Thompson finished with two RBIs each. In the circle, Bruner and Karle Williams combined for five strikeouts and just two walks through six innings.

The Lady Dragons were back in action on Tuesday night with a home game against Atlanta.

Genoa Central 8, Ashdown 2

GENOA, Ark. -- Genoa Central banged out 13 hits in its effort to take down Ashdown, 8-2, on Monday.

The Lady Dragons scored three runs in the first, three in the second, and two in the third after Ashdown lit up the scoreboard with two at the top of the first.

The middle of the lineup for Genoa Central combined for eight hits, with Emily McGuire, Jessyca Thompson, Brooklyn Cox and Kadyn Green all coming away with two each, including doubles by all.

Green brought home a team-high three runs, and McGuire recorded two RBIs in the win. Green also struck out four for her second win of the season.

BASEBALL

Fouke 3, Spring Hill 0

FOUKE, Ark. -- Joshua Scoggins struck out 10 and allowed just two hits as Fouke cruised to a 3-0 shutout win over Spring Hill on Monday.

Scoggins, who helped the Panthers score the first run in the first inning, pitched a complete game through seven innings to push his pitching record to 2-0. He finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two hits and an RBI. His 10 strikeouts give him 22 on the season through 13 innings of work.

The Panthers would score one run in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the victory.

Kaiden Barnes also had two hits for Fouke, while teammates Cody Heflin and Brodey Bulkley each added an RBI.

Fouke will host DeKalb on Thursday.

Maud 7, James Bowie 6

MAUD, Texas -- Maud scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off win against visiting James Bowie on Monday.

Cason Leavitt led the Cardinals with two hits, including a double.

Braiden Klimaszewski had four hits and an RBI for the Pirates, while teammate Tyner Melton ripped two doubles in his three-hit day.

James Bowie hosted McLeod while Maud visited Ore City on Tuesday night.

Nashville 17, De Queen 5

NASHVILLE, Ark. -- Nashville scored early and often during its 17-5 triumph over De Queen on Monday.

Carson Kirby had a big day at the plate, recording six RBIs while going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double for the Scrappers. Hayden Gray added four RBIs and two hits.

Nashville's Kason Willard fanned four through three innings, and Kirby finished off the last two innings.

The Scrappers were scheduled to host Magnolia on Tuesday.
