Texarkana’s new Mid-America League franchise unveils team name, logo next week

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Texarkana's new Mid-America League franchise will officially have an identity next week.

Texarkana Sports and Entertainment LLC is organizing a press conference at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Texarkana Convention Center, 2910 Cowhorn Creek Loop, to unveil the team's name and logo for the upcoming 2024 season.

"The unveiling of our team name and logo marks a significant step toward bringing the excitement of professional baseball to Texarkana," said David Gest, the team's General Manager. "We're electrified to start something special here."

The Mid-America League is in its inaugural season. It will be the home to five other teams, including Abilene, Piney Woods and Sherman in Texas, Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Joplin, Missouri.

The 2024 season runs from May 23 through Aug. 10, with Texarkana's home opener being played on May 31 at George Dobson Field in Spring Lake Park, which is getting fence repairs and a new scoreboard with help from the city. The three-game homestand will feature the first fireworks extravaganza of the summer, according to a press release.

Teams play 68 home games from late May through early August, followed by postseason play to crown a league champion. Rosters will primarily consist of college players, with franchises maintaining the ability to add select non-collegiate players.
