Children removed from court proceedings, Alamo compound
Orders signed by Arkansas circuit judges serving Miller and Sebastian counties permitted the removal Tuesday of more children from the Tony Alamo Ministries compound in Fouke, Ark. and from Alamo-owned properties in Fort Smith, Ark.
A total of 20 juveniles were removed in Miller County, said Arkansas Department of Human Services spokesman Julie Munsell.
Three boys were taken from their parents at the Miller County Juvenile Courtroom located on Hazel Street while DHS and the ASP executed the court orders in Fouke and Fort Smith.
EIghteen children were taken from the Fouke compound, officials said.
No children were found in Fort Smith.
The orders were executed by DHS with the help of the Arkansas State Police late Tuesday morning.
The children were attending custody hearings concerning four of the six girls who were taken from Alamo’s Fouke compound on Sept. 20.
The names of the children, both boys and girls, DHS intended to remove from the Fouke compound accompanied the order signed by Miller County Circuit Judge Joe Griffin.
Allegations of physical abuse and neglect were described in the orders.
