Truck collides with train; no one hurt
An 18-wheeler, owned by Alfred Humphry, 58, of Bloomburg, Texas, collided with a train in Maud shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Humphry was traveling west on U.S. Highway 67 and tried to cross the train tracks at a crossing privately owned by Ward Timber when the train struck the trailer. Humphry privately owned the 18-wheeler with A-Risin Trucking of Bloomburg. The driver of the Union Pacific train, David Willett, 40, of Rison, Ark., and Humphry were not injured. But the train remained on the tracks, causing traffic to be blocked. Shortly after the first accident. a truck driver made an attempt to cross the tracks at another intersection and got hung on the tracks. No one was injured and a wrecker was on scene to move the 18-wheeler.
