Girl feared punishment for using phone
When she realized Tony Alamo was going to find out she'd secretly used a telephone for the second time in a couple of weeks, a 15-year-old former office worker said she ran away.
She was living in Fouke in Alamo's house when she took her back pack and ran through the woods for five hours, testified Nicole Farr. "Yes. Thank God," Farr said when asked if the people in the house she chanced upon helped her. Farr said she was afraid because when Alamo caught her with the phone the first time, he'd screamed at her and slammed her head into a book shelf. Other witnesses testified this morning about life in the church, including one who described seeing 8-year-old Jane Doe No. 2 rub Alamo's legs. Armenia Rodriguez said the incident occurred during a meeting Alamo called to instruct administrators in the church to cook the books for one of the church's businesses that had made "too much money that year."
