Dockery rescinds mayoral resignation, seeks to withdraw "forced plea agreement"
Garland City, Ark. Mayor Yvonne Dockery is accusing Prosecuting Attorney Brent Haltom of “prosecutorial misconduct” by forcing her to resign as mayor “by putting false charges on her.”
Dockery is also rescinding the letter of resignation the court prepared for her to sign. She alleges she was “manipulated, devastated, and under duress when my attorney Lott Rolfe and prosecutor Brent Haltom made an agreement forcing me to sign a letter of resignation.” Dockery filed a five-page document Monday morning in the Miller County Circuit Court titled as “motion to withdraw forced plea bargain” and to set aside court order for probation. Dockery pleaded guilty to felony theft Friday morning and agreed to resign as mayor. But Monday morning she changed her mind to withdraw her resignation. Dockery says the actions were taken against her “solely against (her) because she is a female and because she is a black female that was holding the position as the Mayor of the City of Garland, Ark.” See more details in Tuesday’s Gazette, Featured Texarkana Business Directory Articles Featured Texarkana Business Directory Coupons
