Cheers and Jeers

JEERS: To the Wake Village City Council and mayor. I have attended the Wake Village City Council meetings and have wondered why so few citizens are in attendance. I feel that citizens think the city is operating with no problems. Wake Village is a small community and still has the atmosphere of everyone knowing everyone. Is the city of Wake Village really one big happy family? It appears that way when you go to pay your water bill at Cty Hall and see council members visiting with their wives who also work for the city. Congratulations to the newly resigned council member who was appointed to the city manager position. I am sure his wife will love the extra company at work. To fellow taxpayers, have no fear if Wake Village has a job opening because some employee’s husband or wife will fill it. Do the taxpayers of Wake Village really know how their city is being operated and by whom?—B.P., Wake Village, Texas

CHEERS: After reading about all the problems with the caucus Tuesday night I would like to say a big cheers to John Delk for the timely and professional way he held the caucus at our polling location. Even with the large crowd John was able to sort out the delegate votes and not delay everyone any longer than was needed.—P.R., Texarkana, Texas

CHEERS: To Deputy Stacey Sumner and Animal Control Officer Dennis Braddock. I stopped to help a pit bull that was hit by a car during five o’clock traffic on Friday, Feb. 29. While helping the dog it bit me on the leg. Two other vehicles stopped to help but left before the sheriff’s department arrived. When officer Sumner arrived on the scene he was very compassionate and polite. He was concerned not only for my welfare but that of the injured animal too. Officer Sumner stayed with me until animal control came to get the injured dog. Dennis was also very concerned and compassionate for myself and the dog. Unfortunately the dog had to be put to sleep because of its injuries and it had to be checked for rabies. Both of these caring men called me when the results came in to let me know that the result for rabies was negative. I want to thank them for their kindness and let the Texarkana area know that there still are good people to help you when you need it.—L.A., Texarkana, Texas
