CHEERS: To the officers of Texarkana, Ark., who were involved in my great-uncle’s funeral on Tuesday, July 1st. These officers got out of their vehicle to show respect for our loss. You touched our hearts more than you realize. Also, to the gentleman in the gray truck on the side of Highway 67, who not only removed his hat, but also hung it outside of the window, that meant a lot to us. CHEERS: To the Spring Lake Park workers. I was out with my children this past week and noticed a lot of trash in the playground area and lake. I called the Parks office and within just a few minutes workers were out cleaning the area. I think we all need to take more pride and be thankful for the parks we have and try to take better care of them.—R.M., Texarkana, Texas



CHEERS: To Dixie Wilson and the Artex Animal Welfare Association for catching the three horses that have been running wild in the Trigg community for over six months. These horses were a hazard for people driving on state Highway 296. After months of calling others for help, I am thankful Dixie Wilson stepped in and took care of the problem.—B.M., Texarkana, Ark.
