The Beijing Olympics were hosted by mainland China in a spirit of fairness and mutual respect and it is this same spirit that animates the United Nations. As the 63rd session of the U.N. General Assembly begins, the people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) hope that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait can, with the Olympic spirit for guidance, cooperate within the United Nations to advance the well-being of all.
