In a recent article in the Texarkana Gazette, it was reported that there is a possible increase in the property taxes for Texarkana residents. The article has City manager Larry Sullivan saying that it really isn’t up to the taxpayers. The council can do this on its own. This seems like a repeat of his thoughts and actions at his last job. The voters of TISD several years ago voted down a bond issue by the district, only for the board to go against the taxpayer wishes and borrow the money, saying it was well within their rights to do so.
