The blood bath in the Balkans following the disintegration of Yugoslavia after the death of Tito should have been a harbinger of things to come in Iraq after the removal of Hussein. It is unfortunate that countries with a complicated social, religious and ethnic makeup can be controlled by only a ruthless dictator.
