Reader likes train sounds

TO THE EDITOR:

I live two miles from town. I am an 82-year-old retired widow who just enjoys being alive. I have learned to accept and adapt to situations as they are. I really enjoy the Gazette. In “Cheers and Jeers” today (March 1), I was reminded of when DeKalb had trains, and railroad tracks complete with switch track, and a depot. At bedtime we’d doze off to the sounds of the trains switching and coupling. Even the whistle was comforting as we turned in for the night. The soft rumbling of the wheels as they rolled down the track, making a clack-clack at each section connection...
