TO THE EDITOR:

I have lived in the City of Hooks, Texas, for 33 years, longer than some but less than most. I cannot remember a new home being built in the city in those 33 years. For the most part, the new home would have to be built next to a shanty being held up by 2x4 boards. Some yards have trash, some have even baby diapers strewn in the yard. The city has a standing ordinance to maintain a clean yard, but the enforcement officer doesn’t enforce it. Don’t want to make some council members mad.
