Today the discussion in Washington, D.C., is about our failing financial and housing industry and a Wall Street bailout.

How did we get here? I say we start with the Reagan administration and his dislike for what he called big government and regulation. He and like-minded senators like former Sen. Phil Gramm, Republican from Texas and Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, worked hard to deregulate the housing and financial industry, which resulted in the savings and loan bailout.
