TO THE EDITOR:

For years now we have had millions of people starving to death. It never seems to vary in number, millions never dying, never recovering, just starving. The only change is that people have become obese and obesity-related illnesses have become our No. 1 medical problem. We are soon to get national health coverage so that our starving people will cease to have to choose between buying medicine or eating.

But there are more problems, realizing the therapeutic value of pets; the obese, ill, starving populace needs pets. Food stamps will not permit pet foods ...
