TO THE EDITOR:

Concerning the headlines in the 12-2-08 newspaper, “City Considers 4-cent Tax Hike,” with today’s economy, how can government-be it school, city, county, state, or federal even think about raising taxes? Why don’t they just stop spending?

So many people now don’t get yearly “cost of living” raises and even more people are out of work. When times are hard, we cut back.
