Dear Heloise: I was renewing a magazine subscription and using the prepaid envelope. I noted that I could see through the envelope that contained my personal information and credit-card number.

In these days of identity theft, we all must be very careful of personal data. With that in mind, why don’t magazines and other agencies that provide prepaid envelopes use security-lined envelopes? Identity theft causes great injury and costs thousands of dollars for everyone involved. Each and every step we all take might help in some small way.
