Dear Heloise: Audiobooks are not new to most people, especially when on the road. But I have discovered a fantastic way for me to “read” books while I am home washing dishes, folding clothes or even resting.

My eyes get very tired, and it’s always been hard for me to read books with many pages. But now with audiobooks, both cassette and CD, I can enjoy books. I can get them free at the library or at rental stores. Plus, I have a friend with failing eyesight who benefits as well. I wish I would’ve had them to use earlier.—Maria O., Garden Grove, Calif.
