The announcement Thursday that CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System would acquire Wadley Health System and create a super health care system in Texarkana had to be greeted with mixed emotions by all concerned—and when it comes to community health care we are all concerned, all connected.

Dynamic changes like this don’t occur without there being winners and losers, without generating visceral responses that include glad, sad, angry, anxious. What inspires hope in some provokes fear in others. This plan will not be viewed equally by all.
