Clarksville police cars to display photos of missing children
CLARKSVILLE, Ark.—Morgan Nick, missing since 1995, is among the missing children whose photos are now displayed on the back windows of Clarksville police cruisers.
The department hopes the exposure of photos of missing children from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas will help reunite families. Eleven Clarksville cruisers each display photos of two missing children, while a 12th car has photos of Morgan Nick — one taken when she was 6, before she was abducted from an Alma ballpark, and an age-enhanced one showing her as she would look today, Clarksville Police Chief Greg Donaldson told the Southwest Times Record. Arkansas’ Amber Alert system, used to notify the public of missing children, is named for Morgan Nick. “I told my folks, if one child is recovered because of this, it is all worth it. I’m a parent, and I can’t imagine what those parents are going through,” Donaldson said. The Morgan Nick Foundation partnered with the department for the Picture Them Home campaign. Morgan Nick’s mother, Colleen Nick, founded the nonprofit to help find missing children. Donaldson said that when a child featured on a patrol car is located, the police department will put a “recovered” sticker across the photo so people can see the campaign worked. That will eventually be replaced by a photo of another missing child, he said. “And I hope we recover every one of them. I hope I have to repaint all my cars every six months,” Donaldson said. |
