Arkansas State Police say 10 killed over holiday

Arkansas State Police say 10 people were killed in traffic accidents over the Memorial Day weekend.

Robert Robinson, 50, of Detroit was killed Monday afternoon in a wreck on Arkansas 85 in Phillips County. Robinson drove off the roadway, overcorrected and hit a tree, according to an Arkansas State Police report. A passenger, Joe Jones Jr., 70, of Snowflake was injured in the collision.

Audra Bayird, 22, was killed in a one-car accident Monday on Arkansas 351 in Craighead County, police said. Bayird lost control of her car and struck a tree.

Two men were killed in a collision Sunday on Arkansas 80 in Scott County. Authorities say David Berry, 25, of Mena and Dwight Vaughn, 25, of Danville died in a head-on collision. Vaughn, who was traveling west, crossed the double yellow lines and hit Berry, according to an accident report.

In Hot Spring County, Tammy Moses, 46, of Jonesboro died Sunday after losing control of her vehicle while driving on Interstate 30. The vehicle overturned and crossed the median and both westbound lanes before coming to rest on Antioch Road. A passenger, 10-year-old Alyssa Moses, was injured.

David Taylor, 34, of McCaskill died early Sunday morning after he drove off U.S. 371 in Hempstead County and struck a bridge, according to a police report.

In Van Buren County, a 5-year-old boy died Saturday in a head-on collision on East Mountain Road. Angus Williams was killed in the crash, which happened at about 5 p.m. Clifford Kennedy, 43, of Houston was traveling west and collided with a car driven by Heidi Williams, 25, of Bee Branch. Both drivers were injured, along with 2-year-old Conner Williams.

Jose Sanchez, 26, of Mabelvale died Saturday after losing control on a curve on Arkansas 5 in Saline County. Sanchez went off the road and struck a tree. Two passengers suffered minor injuries.

In Newton County, a 17-year-old girl was killed after losing control on a curve on Arkansas 43 and driving into incoming traffic. Alyssa Slape of Compton died in the wreck, which happened at about 8 a.m. Saturday.

Charles Golden, 56, was killed early Saturday morning when he ran across the eastbound lanes and into oncoming traffic on Interstate 40 in Conway County, according to a police report.
