Cabot school bus driver pleads guilty to DWI

LITTLE ROCK—A Cabot school bus driver pleaded guilty Monday to driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to 90 days of community service at the Pulaski County Jail.

Robin G. Clark was arrested Oct. 26 when she arrived at a Little Rock high school to pick up students who were attending a debate tournament there, authorities said.

Clark entered guilty pleas to driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a minor, according to Little Rock Traffic Court. The pleas came in an agreement with prosecutors. Clark had also been charged with harassment and tampering with physical evidence. Judge Vic Fleming assessed Clark $1,305 in fines and court costs and ordered her to undergo alcohol rehabilitation treatment.

Clark’s blood-alcohol tested 0.073, over the legal limit of 0.04 for people with commercial driver’s licenses, Little Rock police said at the time of her arrest.

According to the court, Clark will have to be at the jail for each of the 90 days of her sentence but won’t have to spend the night, as long as she continues to appear as scheduled.

Convictions for first-offense DWI generally result in suspension of a commercial license for one year, and a second offense brings a lifetime suspension, said Anita Gottsponer, manager of Driver Control for the state Office of Driver Services. Clark was charged with a first offense, according to the court.

Cabot students were attending the debate tournament at Little Rock Central High School when drivers returned to pick them up at 9:30 p.m. and take them back to Cabot. Some drivers and others noticed a driver was behaving “in an erratic manner” before students boarded the bus, officials said. Police arrived and conducted a field sobriety test and arrested the driver, Clark.

An administrator drove the students back to Cabot.
