Man hospitalized after attack by bee swarm
WACO, Texas—A Waco man is hospitalized after a swarm of bees attacked him as he mowed a vacant lot Thursday morning.
Waco firefighters used foam to drive the swarm from Connie Joe Allen after he was covered by thousands of bees, Assistant Fire Chief Don Yeager said. He was taken to Providence Health Center, where wife Imogene Allen said he was doing “OK.” Workers at a nearby lumber and hardware lot said Allen was mowing the lot with a tractor when he apparently hit a hive. Allen jumped off the tractor and tried to flee, but the swarm overtook him. The workers tried to rescue him but were driven away as thousands of bees covered Allen until firefighters turned water and foam hoses on them.
