FORREST CITY, Ark.—Forrest City police might not have caught their man after a high-speed chase through town, but the cellular phone left behind by the culprit gave away his identity.

Police say the chase started just before 11 p.m. Monday after officers received a call about people “fighting in the street with guns.” Officers say three cars were leaving as they arrive, but they were able to block one car from getting away. Police say the man later crashed his Toyota Camry into a house and ran away. But as officers searched the car, his cellualar phone rang and someone asked for the man by name.
