Soldier found dead was not doing training
FORT HOOD, Texas—The unit of a soldier found dead in a training area earlier this week was not doing training exercises at the time, a Fort Hood official said Thursday.
The body of Spc. Donald James Scott Jr., 28, of Boyceville, Wis., was found Tuesday morning by an Army game warden, and authorities continue investigating how he died on the Central Texas Army post near Killeen. His unit was not training in that area at the time he was found dead, said Fort Hood spokeswoman Nancy Bourget. Scott, who joined the Army in 1999, was a biomedical equipment specialist. He was assigned since 2005 to the 582nd Medical Logistics Company, 61st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, 1st Medical Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary).
